Treatment of acne vulgaris
1) COMBINATION therapy with Adapalene and benzyl peroxide
2)12 week course combination with antibiotic (clindamycin or doxy )
IF scarring or hyperpigmentation or widespread pustules :
3)if very very sever : oral isotretinoin ( refer to Derm )
seborrhoeic keratosis
stuck on appearance on torso and face
benign skin lesions in people over 50
Acne rosacea management
For flushing and erythema :
Topical brimonidine gel ( doesn’t work for telangiectasia )
for telangiectasia = laser therapy may have to be used
For papule and pustules :
Topical ivermectin
SEVERE cases :
combination of topical ivermectin + oral doxycycline
venous , arterial and pressure ulcers
Venous = above and around medial malleolus , do compression banding
Arterial = deep and punched out
Seborrhoeic dermatitis in adults
ketoncazole
steroids if short term
Hidradenitis suppurativa
HS
Chronic painful boils on the body
common in under 40s
boils in Axilla are common
Acute flares = flucloxacillin. Surgical incision and drainage may be needed in some cases.
Long-term= topical (clindamycin) or oral (lymecycline or clindamycin and rifampicin) antibiotics.
Lumps that persist despite prolonged medical treatment are excised surgically.
Pityriasis rosea

SELF LIMITING = diapers after 6-12 weeks
Herald patch followed by other patches
Bowens disease
pre cancerous SSC
red scaly patch on hands or sun exposed areas (10-15cm)
TOPICAL 5 Fluorouracil
