Q

Pathogenesis & transmission of Vesicular stomatitis virus?

A

Pathogenesis
- infects epithelium -> cytolytic effects -> spreads to draining LNs, but NO viremia // systemic effects!

Transmission
- sand flies, black flies; direct contact
- horses, cattles pigs
- North & Central America; northern regions of South America

Q

Virulent factors of FMD?

A

Non-Enveloped (more resistant to extreme pH, temperature, drugs)

Q

Pathogenesis of FMD?

A
  • 1º infection via inhalation/ ingestion, inseminationof infectious particles -> viremia -> 2º replication in epitelium cells
  • virus shed in secretions before onset of clinical signs - persist in the oropharynx
  • horizontal transmission only

Q

VF & pathogenesis of papilloma virus?

A

VF = Non-enveloped

Pathogenesis = Virus replicates in nuceli of basal cells of host’s epithelium -> proliferative warts -> spontaneously regress after weeks-months w/ development of cell-mediated immunity
