Atopic Dermatitis:
A
- Disease of childhood
- Extensors, face, neck in children
- Flexors in any age group
- Spars groin and axillary region
- Early age of onset
- Atopy: personal or family history
- Serum IgE elevated
- Eosinophilia
- Type I Hypersensitivity

Contact Dermatitis:
A
- Type IV Hypersensitivity
- Lichenified erythematous plaques with chronic
- Can be an allergy or irritant -> irritant more common cause
- Most common occupational skin disease in the US
- Distribution is single most important clue to diagnosis

Urticaria:

- Wheal-and-flare reaction
- Blanch with pressure as dilated vessels are compressed
- Superficial Dermis

- Deep Dermis and Subcutaneous Tissue
- Lips and tongue affected

- IgE mediated
- Isolated to GI tract or Skin

Drug Allergy:

- 12% of children treated with an antibiotic will experience a cutaneous reaction
