What is a furuncle?
aka boil; acute, round, tender circumscribed follicular abscess that generally ends in central suppuration.
Lesions begin in hair follicles and continue for a prolonged period through autoinoculation.,
What is a carbuncle?
a collection of multiple confluent furuncles with separate follicular ostia.
It is a painful, erythematous, edematous, multiple headed plaque.
undergo central necrosis and rupture onto the skin, discharing purulent, necrotic debris.
common sites are the name of the neck, axillae, and buttocks.
erythema nodosum
tender, erythematous, subcutaneous nodules symmetrically distributed on the lower legs
assocaited with sarcoidosis, and IBD (UC/Chrohns)
SORE SHINS (Streptococci, OCP, Rickettsia, Eponymous (Bechet), Sulfonamides, Hansen’s Disease (Leprosy), IBD, NHL, Sarcoidosis.
