DSM-5 Major Depressive Episode Criteria
A
An individual must experience Atleast 5 of the symptoms for a 2 week period

A
- Depressed mood or irritable
- Decreased interest or pleasure in most activities
- Significant weight change or change in appetite
- Change in sleep
- Change in activity
- Fatigue or loss of energy
- Guilt/worthlessness
- Concentration
- Suicidality

A
- clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational or other important areas of life

A
- depression is associated with a negative triad: negative views of the self, the world and the future.

- negative schemas
- which are formed in childhood and activated when life events are similar to the schema content

- emphasis is on cognitive restructuring
- focus is very much on changing the clients negative view of themselves, the world and the future
