Dendritic cells and Tolerance Flashcards
What are the receptors on tolerogenic cells?
Checkpoint molecules (PDL1), secretion of IL-10, and decrease in co-stimulatory molecules (CD80/CD86).
How does the administration of tolerogenic DCs for treatment work?
Blood is taken from the patients and monocytes are isolated. Then tolerogenic DCs are generated with chemical induction (e.g. vitD3) and re-administered to the patient.
What is the downside of administration of tolerogenic DCs?
It is personalized so it is laborious and costly.
What are Siglecs?
They are sialic acid binding immunoglobulin type lectins, that can cause immune inhibition, immune activation or have no signaling motif.
How can sialic acids induce tolerance?
Sialic acid coupled to an antigen induces regulatory T cells and diminishes effector T cells.
