A
A fixed, false belief not amenable to rational explanation

A
False perception of a sensory stimulus, NOT associated with a real external stimulus (MAY OR MAY NOT be a delusional interpretation)

- Delirium
- Med/neuro condition
- meds/substance use
- late dementia - DLB
- delusional disorder
- mood disorder
- schizophrenia

Neurotransmitters contributing to delirium
A
- Anticholinergics - decrease Ach
- INCREASE cortisol/beta endorphins
- INCREASE serotonin (antidepressants)
- INCERASE Dopamine/decrease Ach (dopamine agonists)
- DECREASE Gaba - neuronal excitability - bEZOS, alcohol withdrawal
