What are the 3 classifications of delirium?
Hyperactive
Hypoactive
Mixed
Explain hyperactive delirium.
Restlessness, pacing and agitation with rapid mood swings and sometimes hallucinations.
It is considered most familiar and generally detected once a crisis has reached.
Explain hypoactive delirium?
Reduced motor activity, sluggishness, drowsiness or seeming dazed.
Least recognized and more common in older patients - quite hard to recognized and may go unreported and unnoticed.
What is mixed delirium?
A mixutre of hypoactive and hyperactive symptoms, and can switch between the two.
What is delirium?
Acute, transient, usually reversible, fluctuating disturbance in attention, cognition and consciousness level.
