The 3 basic rules
- MAINTAIN AIRCRAFT CONTROL.
- Analyze the situation and take proper action.
- Land as soon as conditions permit.
WARNING
Operation procedures, techniques, etc., which will result in personal injury or loss of life if not carefully followed.
CAUTION
Operation procedures, techniques, etc., which will result in damage to equipment if not carefully followed.
NOTE
An operating procedure, technique, etc., which it is considered essential to emphasize.
CRITICAL ACTION
Those actions which must be performed immediately if the emergency is not to be aggravated, and injury or damage are to be avoided. These critical steps will be committed to memory.
NONCRITICAL ACTION
Those actions which contribute to an orderly sequence of event, improve the chances for the emergency action to be successful and serve as “clean-up” items.
Land as soon as possible
Emergency conditions are urgent and require an immediate landing at the nearest airfield
Land as soon as practical
Emergency conditions are less urgent and in the pilots judgement, the degree of emergency may be such that an immediate landing at the nearest airfield is not necessary.
