a system of hardware and software that is used to control the operation of a piece of equipment

A robot is an automated piece of equipment designed to carry out routine repetitive tasks

Uniform resource Locator, aka the address of the webpage

A way of sending messages from on computer to another

Downloadable media files that are often syndicated
What does data validation do?
Checks that the data is of the right type
What does data verification do?
Checks data is accurate, it makes sure the data which has been input is the same as the original data
What is file compression software
Software which can compress files using algorithms, which makes transferring them quicker
What is a source code
The instructions that tell the computer what to do
Is ROM non-volatile or volatile

Making copies of files that can be stored somewhere else

Storing data on the file servers of an ISP instead of your own computers hard disk

Software that enables applications and the rest of the computer system to work

A program that can display and process data in a structured way

A store of lots of data in an organised way

Software that allows users to write, edit and format text documents
What is DTP software
Software that allows users to create publications that contain text and images
What is mail merge
Mail merge is a word processing feature that allows users to personalise letters with names and addresses from a database
What are slide transitions
Transitions are effects that change how each new slide appears
What is data logging?
Capturing information using sensors
