Tumour Board
Multi-disciplinary physician conferences
Can be used to determine the appropriate combination and coordination of therapies for each individual patient case
Quality Control
Entails the evaluation of actual operating performance characteristics of a device or system, comparing it to desired goals and acting on the difference
Includes activities that impose specific quality on a process
Quality Assurance
Includes all activities that demonstrate the level of quality achieved by the output of a process
Essential for Quality Management for most devices and systems, as they can check the output of potentially complication decisions or actions performed by the system.
In regards to RT:
* All procedures that ensure consistency of the medical prescription, and safe fulfilment of that prescription, as regards the dose to the target volume, together with minimal dose to normal tissue, minimal exposure of personnel and adequate patient monitoring aimed at determining the end result of the treatment
Hazard Analysis
The active evaluation of the potential for failures that will cause incorrect results or harm to the patient
Helps delineate issues which can benefit from QC, QA, training and other mitigation strategies
Standard Operating Procedures
Describe treatment approach and provide consistent protocols for staff
Essential component of any practice
Quality Standards
‘Quality standards’ is the set of accepted criteria against which the quality of the activity in question can be assessed.
Peer Review

* Departmental audits - input and feedback of performance
* Performance reviews
