Definitions Flashcards
Loading at which the line is VAR neutral (neither generating or consuming VARs).
Surge Impedance Loading (SIL)
A voltage increase in the receiving end of an electrical transmission line when it is operated in a no-load, or low-load, condition. This results in a receiving end voltage value higher than the sending point.
Ferrante Voltage Rise
The sum of all power received from and sent to neighboring Balancing Authorities.
Actual Net Interchange
The measure of whether a balancing authority is over or under generating.
ACE (Area Control Error)
The sum of all power meant to be received from and sent to neighboring Balancing Authorities.
Scheduled Net Interchange
The difference between Scheduled Net Interchange and Actual Net Interchange.
Inadvertent Interchange
A transmission facility or transmission element(s) that has been identified as limiting the amount of power that can be reliably transferred over the bulk transmission system.
Flowgate
The amount of electric power that can be moved or transferred reliably from one area to another area of the interconnected transmission systems by way of all transmission lines between those areas under specified system conditions.
Total Transfer Capability
The amount of TTC (Total Transfer Capability) necessary to provide reasonable assurance that the interconnected transmission network will be secure
Transmission Reliability Margin
The amount of firm transmission transfer capability preserved by the transmission provider for Lead-Serving Entities (LSE), whose loads are located on that Transmission Serice Provider’s system, to enable access by the LSEs to generation from interconnected systems to meet generation reliability requirements.
Capacity Benefit Margin
