Abiotic Factors
Non-living factors affecting an ecosystem, environmental factors in an ecosystem.
Biotic Factors
Factors caused by living organisms present in a community
Biome
A large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat.
Biosphere
The global sum of all ecosystems
Biodiversity
A variety in species within an ecosystem or the world
Environment
The surroundings/area or condition in which a species lives or operates
population
A measurable amount of a species in an area / a community of species (plants, animals or humans) in which interbreeding occurs
Species
A group of living organisms with similar traits in which the exchange of genes or interbreeding occurs
Habitat
The natural home of a species or many species
Niche
A role taken on by an organism in its community
Flora
The plants of a specific area or geological period
Fauna
The animals of a specific area or geological period
Competition
The interaction between an animal or plant species, or individual organism in trying to gain a share of a limited resource
Global Warming
The warming up of the earth’s atmospheric temperature attributed to green house gasses
Carbon Footprint
The amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by an individual, species or community from an activity or activities
Ways to reduce :
1) Be more conscious about what we do
2) Be more conservative in our CO2 emissions
3) Less meat
4) Plant gardens
