Q

Why did the formal declaration of independence take longer to be established?( 3 reasons)

A

intellectual and personal journey towards revolution and nationhood.

Communication with local committees and assemblies took place at every step along the path to independence and, in an age of communication by print and transport by horse, this meant that it took time to reach an agreed resolution.

Members of the Continental Congress worked hard to reach a consensus before moving forward and this meant demonstrating to moderates that every effort had been made to reach accommodation with the British.
