Deck 8 - Additional Factors of the CV System Flashcards
State the 3 additional factors for the cardiovascular system
1) Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.
2) High and low blood pressure.
3) Hyper/hypothermia.
Describe sudden arrhythmic death syndrome
SADS is a genetic heart condition.
It causes death due to a cardiac arrest.
This can happen in healthy and young people with no heart disease. The cardiac arrest happens due to a ?ventricular arrhythmia?
This is a disturbance in the heart?s rhythm.
What is high and low blood pressure also known as?
High blood pressure (hypertension).
LOw blood pressure (hypotension).
State 3 symptoms of Hypotension?
Symptoms is low blood pressure include:
Dizziness
Fainting (insufficient blood to the brain)
Tiredness
Describe hyperthermia
A prolonged increase in body temperature.
Occurs when the body produces and absorbs too much heat.
Why does hyperthermia occur?
When your body becomes too cold. Your core temperature drops below 35 degrees centigrade. Homeostasis is 37 degrees centigrade for a human.
