- reward points control the public as when we spend money we are rewarded

- reinforcement has to be consistent
- takes time
- doesnt work when patients are in the real world
- staff have to be trained which is costly
- rewards have to be something they desire

- staff reward things which makes their own lives easier
- bad if you reward people with their basic human rights
- ethical as the desired behaviours will benefir society

- it works by building an association between 2 stimuli
- the therapist who conditions the desired behaviour has control

- participants must be willing to take part
- requires little equipment and its cheap
- you need a good relationship with the therapist

- you are shocking people if you use avasion therapy
- if trying to overcome a phobia being confronted with it can be traumatising
- its unethical to make harmful products such as tabacco more appealing through classical conditioning in advertising
- must be able to uncondition if necessary

- sometimes voluntary
- could be better than drugs but good to work along side them. however, some patients could then completely stop taking the drugs

- gives the patient insight into their condition which could make it worse
- no chemical implications that you get with drugs
- therapist can exert control and manipulate thought patterns
- sometimes therapy is forced which goes against human rights
