Death and The Moon Flashcards
Purpose
suggests she has done all she can do, and the struggle for feminism is down to other people. Theme of death could also represent the passing of patriarchal dominance.
Structure
The poem comprises three eight-lined free-verse stanzas. There is no regular formal metre and no rhyme scheme, although Duffy uses internal rhyme, for example “old”, “gold” and “cold” in stanza one. The enjambed line endings create a flowing narrative.
Extra
An afterthought , in some editions of this collection this poem doesn’t have a page number shows this. Duffy has thought about the collection and added this in.
It suggests that Duffy has realized that Feminism still hasn’t worked and a completely equal society hasn’t been achieved yet.
