DC3 Revision Physics Flashcards
What is Renewable Energy? Provide 3 examples.
Energy that is taken from a source that doesn’t run out. 3 Examples are Geothermal Energy, Wind and Solar Power.
What is Non-Renewable Energy? Provide 3 Examples.
Non-Renewable Energy is energy that cannot be reused or replenished. 3 examples are fossil fuels, Oil, Coal and Gas.
What is a resistor? Ammeter? Voltmeter? Diode? Open switch? Closed switch? And fuse
A resistor controls the amount of current flowing in a circuit, an ammeter is a device used to measure the current, a voltmeter measures voltage difference between two points in a circuit. A diode is used to allow the current to flow in one direction only, an open switch is a switch not making electrical contact so the current can’t flow through it, a closed switch on the other hand is the opposite and allows the current to flow, a fuse is a safety device designed to protect electrical circuits from over current.
What is Kinetic Energy?
Kinetic Energy is a store of energy that is mobility and movement.
Gravitational and Electrical Energy?
Gravitational is the gravity and it increases as something ascends, it decreases as it descends, electrical energy is the electricity in items and electricity based objects.
Thermal and Chemical?
Chemical is in batteries and in things that require chemical energy, Thermal is heat and things that require heat.
1KG in G
1000 G
Dissipation of Energy?
The spreading out of energy.
