DC3 Revision Biology Flashcards
What is a Sperm Cell and adaptions of it?
Sperm Cells are specialised for Fertilisation, they have a flagellum for propulsion, they also have a mitochondria to provide energy for their journey.
Root Hair Cell and adaptions of it?
Specialised for absorbing water and minerals from soil, adaptions are thin cell walls and a large permanent vacuole.
Egg Cells and adaptions?
An Egg Cell lets sperm enter for fertilisation, large surface area, sue.face is covered with proteins and receptors to bind with sperm cells.
Muscle Cells and 2 adaptions of it?
Muscle cells allow movement through contractions, two adaptions.p of it are multiple nuclei and nerve responsevnessl
Animal Cells and their organelles?
Ribosomes, nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria
Plant Cells and theirs?
Ribosomes, nucleus, chloroplasts, cell membranes, vacuoles, cell walls, mitochondria, cytoplasms
Bacterium Cells and their organelles?
Nucleus, flagella, cell wall, ribosomes ,cytoplasm, pilli, capsule, plasma membrane, plasmid
Diffusion
Net movement of anything generally from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration.
D- for down gradient
What is Active Transport?
Moving substances from a more dilute solution to a more concentrated solution against the concentration gradient. Requires energy. A- for against gradient
Osmosis?
Diffusion of water From a dilute solution to a concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane.
O- for obeying the rule of Down
