Day 4 General Aviation Kmowledge Flashcards
What conditions must be met if there’s a reduced number of CC on the aircraft on the ground
one CC must be a SCC
a pilot must be present
SCC must have completed safety equipment
Pre boarding and cabin checks should be completed
Each CC is present at there station
The aircraft should have electrical power
Crew should be aware of ground vehicles near the exits
What conditions must be met when refueling with PAX aboard
PAX are briefed about re fuelling
Seat belt signs off, no smoking sign on
Use of PEDs may be restricted
EXIT signs on
What is a assisting PAX, Buddy
-PAX assigned to assist SCP if SCP is unaccompanied
-SCP could be, visually, aurally, mentally, physically impaired, mother with many children
-assist them in evacuation
When may the safety demo be started
After door closure
Overhead compartments closed
So PAX can focus on demo
What is a CR
Controlled rest
Period of time where one pilot at a time may take a short nap and be relieved of their duties
Must be in accordance with CR procedures
What should the crew do during turbulence to prevent injury (if possible)
FC switch on seat belts signs
If not CC call FC to turn on seat belt signs
Overhead bins closed
All galley equipment securely stowed
Stop service if necessary (mod or sever)
Stop serving hot drinks
Stow trolley in galley if (mod or severe)
Lock the Lav
Cabin kept tidy
CCs take any available seat during sever turbulence
What is TUC
Time of useful consciousness (after decompression)
What is considered to be ‘unavailability’ of crew members
Crew cannot perform duties due to factors outside their control. Not fatigue or sick
What are the critical phases of flight
Taxi
Take-off
Climb
Descent
Landing
What will the FC do if the receive an emergency call from the SCC whilst aircraft on the ground
Stop the aircraft if possible
What may be symptoms of a decompression
-strange noises-whistling-hissing (air is leaking)
-physiological symptoms:ear discomfort
Stomach pain
Joint pain
(First symptoms)
What will be symptoms of a rapid/explosive decompression
Bang sound
Rushing air
Cold air
Fog
O2 mask drop if aircraft altitude >14000 feet
What is the TUC of CC after decompression
About 30 secs
What will be CCs first actions after decompression
Don nearest O2 mask
Sit on seat and strap in
What is the name of the O2 masks used by pilots
Quick dining mask
What may CCs do after decompression (safe altitude)
-check condition of all crew members and PAX
-provide supplemental oxygen to PAX if necessary
-receive NITS briefing from FD
What equipment may CC use, to provide supplemental oxygen during decompression
-unused PAX masks
-portable oxygen bottles
-PBE
When do most air accidents occur
During take off/landing
Therefor little time to prepare
During take off and landing CC must be aware of
Smoke Fire, smoke
Unusual attitudes
Unusual sounds
Unusual smells
Impact forces
What cabin light setting will make PAX more aware of exits signage
DIM2, (10%)
Explain difference between prepared and unprepared emergency
Prepared:time to prepare cabin, cc, pax for evacuation
Unprepared:little to no time “ “ “
What colour are the cc and pax life vest
Cc:orange
Pax:yellow
When should INF and adult life vests be inflated
INF-inside aircraft
Adult-at door
When should CC do a silent review
Before and during landing and take off
When should CC adopt brace position
During Takeoff and landing
What should CC do if no communication with FD during evacuation
Try and establish with phone
If unsuccessful enter emergency code to enter FD
Asses situation then act accordingly
What is a dried up exit
An exit that is not being used by PAX
What is exit bypass
The equal use of all exits during an evacuation
Define active and passive panic
Active-overwhelmed with fear, act uncontrollably-calm them down
Passive-frozen with fear-push down slide
Why may CC ask PAX to craw during evacuation
To avoid smoke-mushrooming effect
What should CCs do once evacuation complete
Check the area they’re responsible for-cabin lav, for survivors
