What was Humanism?
Humanism was a cultural movement during the Renaissance where people, rather than studying about religion/Christianity, decided to focus more on ancient humans. Humanism spread the idea that life is not solely for getting into heaven, and that people should learn a wide variety of topics to see what they are good at for a better life on Earth.
What was Secularism?
Secularism was a view on humanity during the Renaissance that, as a human, you should not only have one goal, to get into heaven, but also find pleasure and enjoy life on Earth.
What was Individualism?
Individualism was an idea during the middle ages where people began to think that they should be focusing on themselves more than the entire community. Because of this, many artists, poets, architects, and others could move away from focusing their arts on religion.
What was/is Classical Scholarship?
Classical Scholarship is/was the study of all aspects of ancient Greek and Rome.
What was Christian Humanism?
Christian Humanism was Europe’s twist on Italian Humanism. In Italian Humanism, people would focus more on studying the arts, but in Christian Humanism, people just focused on studying the history of Christianity.
Who was Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci was a very famous artist during the Renaissance period. He is nicknamed “The Renaissance Man” and rightfully so. He was a great architect, engineer, and was fascinated by anatomy, the study of dissecting humans and animals, but he is most popularly known for his painting skills.
