verb – to persuade someone to do something SYN persuade (e.g. I’ve been trying to convince Jean to come with me.)

adj – someone who is generous is willing to give money, spend time etc, in order to help people or give them pleasure OPP mean
debt
noun – when you owe money to someone OPP credit (e.g. Nearly half the students said they were in debt.)
enrol
verb – to officially arrange to join a school, university, or course, or to arrange for someone else to do this (e.g. I decided to enrol for ‘Art for Beginners’.)
enrolment
noun – the process of arranging to join a school, university, course etc (e.g. Student enrolments have more than doubled.)
shortage
noun – lack / a situation in which there is not enough of something that people need (e.g. There is a shortage of nurses and doctors in this area.)
worsen
verb – get worse / to become worse, or make something worse (e.g. A lot of teachers expect the situation to worsen over the next few years.)
complain
verb – to say that you are annoyed, not satisfied, or unhappy about something or someone (e.g. Residents are complaining because traffic in the area has increased.)
meaningful
adj – having a meaning that is easy to understand and makes sense (e.g. Without more data we cannot make a meaningful comparison of the two systems.)
