Q

What is a strength of primary data?

A

Because it is collected by the researcher they are in control of what information is collected. Therfore, it means that we are likely to be able to establish the cause and effect and can justify the research easier as the outcome i smore likely to be valid.

Q

What is a weakness of primary data?

A

Primary data is costly process as designing a study and getting ethical apprival takes time, so does collecting and analysing the data.
Therefore, it may have scientific implications meaning that people may be less likely to understand behaviours because thoe who would fund it are not interested in finding the outcome. This is a probelm for undersatnding human behaviour

Q

What is a strength of using secondary data?

A

It is cheaper than primary methods as it doesn’t invlove collecting the data yourself, only searching for others data to use
This matters beacuse it may mean more people are encouraged to do this research and therfore we can draw more global conclusions on the behaviour.

Q

What is a weakness of using secondary data?

A

The data may not exactly fit your aim or criteria for inclusion as the data may very in terms of procedure or aim.
This matters beacuse it may be mroe difficult to establish cause and effect and therefore we need to be careful when drawing conclusions from this data as the data selected may be skewed by secondary research aims.
