Hyperglycemic.

What is the dosage?
A
25g SIVP/IO q 5mins. Titrate to BGL of 4.0mmol/L or patient improvement to a maximum of 50g.
12.5 g if suspected head injury
12.5g if suspected stroke.

What is the indication?
A
Symptomatic hypoglycemia.

What are contraindications?
A
Hyperglycemia
Allergic to corn or corn products.

What are some precautions?
A
Patients with increased ICP, it can cause cerebral edema.
Patients where malnutrition or chronic alcoholism is suspected.
