What is the trade name for it?

Tylenol.

What’s the class?
A
Anti-pyretic
Analgesic
Selective COX inhibitor.

What is MOA?
A
It has a selective inhibition of COX, the enzyme needed to make prostaglandins. By decreasing prostaglandins synthesis in the CNS, acetaminophen is able to reduce fever and pain.

What is the dosage?
A
975mg PO - don’t repeat dose.

What is an indication for this?
A
Febrile greater than 38 degrees C.

What is a contraindication?
A
Hypersensitivity.
Active liver disease/hepatic treatment.
Patients undergoing chemotherapy.
