Cutaneous innervation of face and scalp Flashcards
What spinal nerves innervate the back of the head?
Greater occipital (C2) Third occipital (C3) Lesser occipital (C2/C3)
What are the 3 branches of the trigeminal nerve ( CNV)
Opthalmic (Va)
Maxillary ( Vb)
Mandibular (Vc) - emerge from lateral pons
Where do each of the 3 CNV branches pass through?
Va- Sup. orbital fissure
Vb- Round foramen
Vc- Oval foramen
What are the branches of the opthalmic division?
Frontal ( supraorbital and supratrochlear), nasociliary ( Ant. ethmoidal (into ext nasal), post. ethmoidal and infratrochlear)
Lacrimal
What are the branches of the maxillary division?
Zygomaticotemporal
Zygomaticofacial
Infraorbital
How does the mandibular division divide?
Anterior (4) and posterior divisions (3, 1 with 2 branches)
How does anterior mandibular division divide?
Buccal
Lateral pterygoid, Deep temporal, Masseteric ( the muscles of mastication)
Nerve to medial Pt arises from main CNVc
How does the posterior mandibular division divide?
Auriculotemporal, Lingual, Inferior alveolar (into)> Mylohyoid and mental nn
What do each of the
