A culture based on social status earned through consumerism

A smaller group broken off from main culture - within it different norms and values but branched off from main

A culture enjoyed by this within higher status (provides cultural capital)

A culture associated with the poorer
What is popular culture
An easy to understand and popular culture which majority of young people follow

A culture based on local customs and beliefs pasted down through generations

A one world culture due to mass media and easier connections through globalisations

Mass culture creates false needs (believe they need something when they dont)
Leads to commodity fetishism (super power) which leads to fade class consciousness (distracted exploitation)

Women are often sexualised in the media
