• 1170 collage students form 11 different counties completed a questionnaire about their beliefs about the importance of love in a marraiage. collectivist/individualistic, economic status, and family marriage statistics were also examined
• individualistic cultivares placed more emphasis on love in a marriage compared to those form an individualistic culture. this belief correlated with higher marriage reates and lower fertility rate. divorce reales correlated with the beliefs that dissaperence of love warrants a dissolution in marriage
