CSS Reviewer Flashcards
Widely used in the computer and telecommunications industry as
Ethernet cables and telephone wires
Unshielded twisted pair
Is a network that is used for communicating among computer devices, usually within
an office building or home.
Local Area Network
Covers a large geographic area such as country, continent or even whole of the
world.
Wide Area Network
Computer hardware component designed to allow computers to communicate
over a computer network.
Network Interface Card
s a local network topology in which the infrastructure nodes connect directly, dynamically and nonhierarchically to as many other nodes as possible and cooperate with one another to efficiently route data
from/to clients
Mesh
is a topology for a Local Area Network (LAN) in which all nodes are individually connected to a
central connection point, like a hub or a switch
Star
IP address is a number (in the form of a dotted quad) that is assigned to a computer by an Internet
service.
Static
is a temporary IP address that is assigned to a computing device or node when it’s connected
to a network.
Dynamic
is the node in a computer network using the Internet Protocol Suite that serves as the
forwarding host (router) to other networks when no other route specification matches the destination IP
address of a packet.
Default Gateway
s a number that defines a range of IP addresses that can be used in a network
Subnet Mask
The Internet’s system for converting alphabetic names into numeric IP addresses
Domain Name System
allows admins to manage and store information
about resources from a network, as well as application data, in a distributed database
Active Directory Domain Services
is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an Internet
Protocol (IP) host with its IP address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask
and default gateway.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
is a feature of the Microsoft Windows NT family of operating systems that controls the
working environment of user accounts and computer accounts.
Group Policy
is a tool or a krone tool, is a small hand tool used by telecommunication and network
technicians. It is used for inserting wire into insulation-displacement connectors on punch down blocks,
patch panels, keystone modules, and surface mount boxes
Punch Down Tool
is a computer network that interconnects users with computer resources in a
geographic area or region larger than that covered by even a large local area network (LAN) but smaller
than the area covered by a wide area network (WAN).
Metropolitan Area Network
