Political system, developed in Europe after fall or Roman empiRe, without rulers commoners- power, many needed protection, King William had vassals swore oath of fealty, traded protection for taxes or food

Holy land, crusades were fighting over it, many pilgrimages went there, very important in Jew, Chris, Muslims

Land they conquered they got to keep, go to heaven, wouldn’t have to pay taxes

Many had to give land to bigger land owners, many felt unprotected, commoners started being more powerful, hierarchys developed,
Effects of crusades, good or bad for Europe
Good trade grew, cru brought need for goods and services

Jews in Europe

Loyal to King forever, on same side, vassals took oof to King

Religious donation, nobles and kings would tithe to church to stay in good graces
