current hx of URTI

barking cough or recent hx of a barking cough
Conditions to EPI?
> = 6months - <8years
HR- <200bpm
other- stridor at rest
Conditions to Dex?
> =6 months- <8years
LOA- unaltered
Other- for mild, moderate and severe croup
Contraindications to EPI:
ax or sensitivity to EPI
Contraindications to DEX:
ax or sensitivity to steroids
steroids received within the last 48hrs
unable to tolerate oral meds
What is the treatment to EPINEPHrine?
<10kg (22lbs)

Max dose- 1
> =10kg

What is the treatment for DEXAMETHASONE?
0.5mg/kg
max of 8mg
anyone >16kg (35lbs)= 8mg
What are examples of systemic steroids??
prednisone

triamcinolone
methylprednisolone

Prior to initiating nebulized EPI, what should be attempted first if available and pt’s condition permits?
