What are the conditions for Acetaminophen?
> = 12 years old
LOA unaltered
What are the conditions for Ibuprofen?
> = 12 years old
LOA unaltered
What are the conditions for Ketorolac?
> =12 years old
LOA unaltered
BP- Normotension
What are the contraindications for Acetaminophen? (tylenol)
use within previous 4 hours
allergy or sensitivity
hx of liver disease
active vomiting
unable to tolerate oral meds
suspected ischemic chest pain
What are the contraindications for Ibuprofen? (ADVIL)
NSAID use in the last 6 hours
Allergy or sensitivity
Pt on coagulation therapy
Current active bleeding
Hx of peptic ulcer disease or GI bleed
Pregnant
If asthmatic, no prior use of ASA or other NSAIDS
CVA or TBI in the last 24hrs
Known renal impairment
Active vomiting
Unable to tolerate oral MED
Suspected ischemic chest pain
External trauma that is dressed is or is not considered active bleeding?
NOT!!!
Is occult bleeding (hematuria/GI bleed) an active bleed?
YESSSS!
Is traces of blood in the urine considered an active bleed?
NOPE
What are the contraindications for Ketoralac?
NSAID use in the last 6 hours
Allergy or sensitivity
Pt on coagulation therapy
Current active bleeding
Hx of peptic ulcer disease or GI bleed
Pregnant
If asthmatic, no prior use of ASA or other NSAIDS
CVA or TBI in the last 24hrs

What is the dose for acetaminophen?
>= 12 y/o - <18y/o
**500-650mg
(1 tablet)
>=18 y/o
960-1000mg
(2 tablets)
What is the dose for ibuprofen?
> = 12 y/o
400mg
MAX DOSE!!
What is the dose for ketorolac?
> = 12 y/o
IM/IV
10-15mg
max 1 dose
What are the clinical considerations under this directive?
- co administer acetaminophen and ibuprofen
- suspected renal colic pts should routinely be considered for NSAIDS, either ibuprofen or ketoralac
- IV admin for only PCP AIV
What are some examples of RENAL impairment?
UTI’s
Kidney stones
Chronic kidney disease
Pt’s on dialysis
