First stage of each of the radical/cultural identity models is characterized by the person’s lack of acceptance and/or awareness of his/her culture as an element of his/her identity, while the last stage is characterized by a persons acceptance and appreciation for their culture

Racial salience
extent to which a persons race is important to someones identity in a point in time or in specific context (e.g., when experiencing discriminatory bx)
racial centrality
extent to which a person normally defines themselves in relation to race vs other identities like religion (e.g., someone may be more tied to their religious identity v race)
racial regard
how someone feels publicly or privately to people of a certain race
racial ideology
a persons beliefs and opinions about the ways black people should live/interact with society
homosexuality identity development 4 stages
-sensitization: occurs in childhood (e.g., young boys feeling more interested in dolls v sports)
-identity confusion: begins in adolescence (when feeling sexually attracted to same sex, causes confusion/anxiety)
-identity assumption: when people begin to accept gay identity (ages 19-21)
-identity commitment: internalized their identity, “out” to family/friends/etc
active exploration?
