what are behavioural change techniques?
goals and planning, social support, feedback and monitoring, shaping knowledge, natural consequences and comparisons of behaviours, associations and repetition and substitution
what is APEASE?
affordability, practiability, effectiveness and cost effectiveness, side effects or safety and equity
what were the pros of the CRUK obesity and cancer campaign?
highlighted the risk and scare factor
what were the cons of the CRUK campaign?
implied everyone who had cancer is at fault, fat shaming and too harsh
what was the aim of the CRUK campaign?
to highlight the link between obesity and cancer and decrease childhood obesity
what were the outcomes of CRUK?
people do not like being told what to do and having things imposed on them and therefore not overly effective
what are important characteristics of interventions?
they are difficult
need to consider audience
individual level and population level can be combined and have pros and cons
need to look at evidence base for different approaches and consider how strong it is
