Q

What goals should be included when planning for the resumption of critical business functions at an alternate site for four weeks? What would be different if the planning horizon were 30 weeks instead?

A

It would depend on if the company can still run, and if they have a hot or warm site, if the company is working from a cold site and having to take the time to recover and remake all the lost data it could mean the end of the company.

Q

Ethical Decision Making

It seems that the company exposed its employees to some stress during the “white powder” drill without telling the employees that it was taking place. While this is almost certainly legal, do you think it was ethical to spring the surprise on the employees as part of a training event?

A

Springing an anthrax attack drill on unsuspecting employees even if you just did a drill not too long ago I feel isn’t vary “nice”, yes you want to test if an actually attack happened do your employees know exactly what to do. Its one things to do a unannounced drill its another to have a “drill” with “white power” in a package and place it in the mailroom. I feel like doing a stunt like this could result in unwanted employee feedback especial because most people know the effects or potential effects of anthrax, just look up 2001 anthrax attacks Bruce Edwards Ivins.

Q

Ethical Decision Making

What if Bobby had been injured during the drill when the package opened in the mail room? Of course, the company would be responsible for the worker compensation claim, but would it also be guilty of an ethical failure to protect the safety of its employees?

A

I think so because you (as a company) is springing an anthrax attack drill on unsuspecting employees and springing an unexpected drill in itself comes with its own complications as its an unexpected drill.
