Critical Thinking Activity: Module 02 Flashcards
In the opening scenario, the group was practicing for a snow emergency. Other than power outages, what incident cards would you expect to see? For each of the incident cards you listed, what would be the proper response of the organization?
The first incident card that would come to mind is a data leak. This may be user data or company secrets. The proper response would be to consult the CPMT and follow the contingency plan they have set up. This may include conducting a business impact analysis and mitigating the any issues.
How often should an organization rehearse its contingency plans?
at minimum an annual basis, but more times never hurt.
Who should coordinate rehearsal of the contingency plans? Why would that be the appropriate person?
A senior CP manager
What degree of cross-training between the various roles in the plans is most effective? Identify the advantages and disadvantages of such a cross-training plan. What trade-offs do you think exist between extensive and minimal cross-training?
i feel like haveing a helathy amout of cross-training could be helpfull as it gives other parties better insite in how to help eachouter and collaborate. advantages could be Increases employee motivation and better understanding. disadvantages could be that emploies could see it as just another chore or thing to do, but giving a healthy balince of introducing it into their workload could help minagate this .
The CIO, Amanda Wilson, was not at this rehearsal. Do you think it is important that the CIO, or even the CEO in some cases, participate in this kind of readiness exercise? Why or why not?
id say that the CIO should participate most cases to show that its a company and not just empolies, having your boss showing the ropes in drills could help with being organized.
How can you make progress in contingency planning in the face of resistance from upper management?
Emphasize the importance of a good organized contingency plan
Ethical Decision Making
Suppose the CIO of the company, Amanda Wilson, had refused to attend the practice session because she “thought this was a waste of time and unimportant,” even though it is a specific requirement of her position by policy.
Should the team that was present inform the CEO that Amanda missed the session?
yes. I feel that no mater if it feels like a waste of time or is unimportant everyone has to do things they may or may not want to do but stil do them to be prepared for the day that something dose goes down, if you dont practicce youl get stress and might start to panic training helps mitigate panicking.
