What are the 6 aims of punishment?

A
  1. Protection - Removes criminals from society, preventing harm.
  2. Retribution - Revenge, so criminal suffers like victim
  3. Reparation - Repairing damage done through crime.
  4. Vindication - Prove authority of the law.
  5. Reformation - Rehabilitating offenders.
  6. Deterrence - Put people off committing crimes
