Function: Sense of smell.
Optic Nerve (II)
Function: Vision.
Oculomotor Nerve (III)
Function: Eye movement, Pupil size, Lens shape.
Trochlear Nerve (IV)
Function: Controls eye muscles.
Trigeminal Nerve (V)
Function: Sensation to skin of forehead, cheeks, lower jaw, teeth, gums; Controls muscles involved in chewing.
Abducens Nerve (VI)
Function: Controls eye muscles.
Facial Nerve (VII)
Function: Sense of taste, controls facial expressions, controls the lacrimal, lingual salivary, and submandibular salivary glands.
Vestibulocochlear Nerve (VIII)
Function: Sense of hearing, balance and equilibrium.
Glossopharyngeal (IX)
Function: Innervates muscles of the pharynx, sense of taste.
Vagus Nerve (X)
Function: Controls swallowing, innervates muscles of vocal cords, innervates visceral organs.
Accessory Nerve (XI)
Function: Controls the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles involved in moving the neck.
Hypoglossal Nerve (XII)
Function: Controls the muscles of the tongue.
