Function: Supports and reinforces tissues and organs.
Location: Ribs; Ends of bones; Embryonic Skeleton; Nose
Cartilage 2: Fibro Cartilage
Function: Cushion and support for inflexible areas; Can resist compressive force
Location: Intervertebral discs
Cartilage 3: Elastic
Function: Retain shape; Flexibility and stretch
Location: Outer ear

Function: Resist stress of being pulled
Location: Tendons and Ligaments

Function: Resist forces in many directions
Location: Dermis; Joint Capsules; Digestive tract
