What are the ABC’s of CPR?
A- airway check that the airway is open
B- breathing, check for breathing. (If none, do artificial respiration)
C- check for pulse. If none, do CPR.
Explain what you must do in the first step of the CPR procedure?
Tilt head,lift chin, check breathing. Give two mouth to mouth breaths.
Explain what you must do in the second step of the CPR procedure?
Place two fingers on the spot where the ribs come together. Put the heal of your hand just above your fingers on the breastbone.
Explain what you must do in the third step of the CPR procedure?
Firmly push down on the injured persons chest 30 times. Continue with 2 mouth to mouth breaths, 30 compressions until help arrives.
What does CPR stand for?
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
If you are ever at the scene of an accident and need to phone for help, it is important you know what to do. Before you Phone the police, the ambulance or fire brigade, make sure that you have all the information you need?

You must make sure that the patient needs it and when there is no pulse.

The first thing you can do to help someone who is injured.

If the injured person can’t get up or is bleeding badly. Always call for help.
What should you remember when dealing with an injured person who might have neck and back injuries?
Never move an injured person who has neck or back injuries.
What must you do before you treat a cut or a graze?
Wash your hands and wear gloves if possible?
How do you stop the bleeding of a large wound as quickly as possible (2) ?
Lift the wound higher than the heart or head, put direct pressure on the wound.
Why should you not put a sticking plaster or cotton wool on burnt skin?
It will damage the skin.
What must you remember at all times during first aid (4)
Stay calm and check the area is safe
Think before you do anything
Talk to the person you are helping
Look for an adult to help
If someone has a burn (3)
Cool the burn under running water (tap water temperature) for at least ten minutes
Tell an adult
If the burn is bad or it is a child who is burnt call an ambulance
