Q

Adv of correlations

A
  • allows establishment of strength of the relationship between 2 variables and measure if precisely
  • allows researchers to investigate things that could not be manipulated for ethical or practical reasons
  • predictions can be made about one of the variables based on what is known abt the other variable

Q

Disadv of correlations

A
  • cause and effect cannot be established, can’t tell which one I fluemces the other
  • even if there is a correlation it might be that the variables are not acc related and it’s instead due to confounding variables
  • correlation only measures linear rs not curvilinear where at one it goes from posit e to negative
