Correction of subluxation Flashcards
1
Q
What happens when a subluxation is corrected?
A
- the compensations above will accommodate and will change
- as subluxation is in the correction process
2
Q
What are 2 ways to improve relationships between atlas/occiput?
A
- correct atlas when subluxated:: to decrease the compensatory misalignment between atlas/occiput
- “Jab-like” thrust getting atlas into motion:: to decrease the compensatory misalignment between atlas/occiput
3
Q
When do you adjust ilium to sacrum?
A
- when the ilium listing is PIEX, PI Major, Ex Major
- Posterior Sacrum must be present on same side of ilium listing
4
Q
When do you adjust sacrum to ilium?
A
when the ilium listing is ASIN, AS Major, IN Major
5
Q
What happens when you emphasize repositioning the spinous process?
A
- The thrust will be too far laterally and with too much inferiority
- thus, not moving the vertebral body in the right direction to correct the posteriority or lateral wedging
6
Q
A segment is found to have no wedge, what does this indicate about scoliosis?
A
- NO scoliosis
- Rotation to the convex side–>indication spinous contact
- Rotation to the concave side–>indicating mammillary contact
