Inadequate perfusion as a result of cardiac dysfunction
What does chest pain usually lead to the diagnosis of?
Angina
Can people have CHD without angina?
Yes
What is the gold standard test for CHD?
Angiography
What tests besides angiography can be done for CHD?
CTPA, exercise testing and perfusion scanning
What can decrease risk in CHD?
Drugs, lifestyle changes and revascularisation
How can revascularisation be achieved in CHD?
PCI or CABG
What drugs are given to patients with CHD?
Aspirin, statins, ACE inhibitor and beta blocker
What should you always try and get patients with CHD to do?
Stop smoking
What veins are commonly used for CABG?
Great saphenous vein and internal mammary artery
What revascularisation technique is used in a STEMI (normally)?
PCI
What is done in acute coronary events with regards to revascularisation?
Perform angiography with a view to revascularisation
What patients with angina receive revascularisation?
Only those with severe symptoms or at high risk
Sudden death associated with ischaemic heart disease is associated with what ECG abnormality?
Long QT syndrome
What can bring on pain of angina?
Exertion, stress, cold wind and after meals
