preparing a slide ( Microscopy )

• add drop of water to clean slide to secure specimen in place
• place the tissue on the water
• add a drop of iodine to stain the specimen : this makes it easier to distinguish the different parts of the cell
• place a cover slip on top of the specimen , making sure to not get any air bubbles trapped

-clip the slide onto the stage using clips
- use lowest powered O.L
- use coarse adjustment knob to move stage up to just below eyepiece lens
- look down the eyepiece lens. use the coarse adjusting knob to move the stage downwards until the image is roughly in focus
- adjust focus on the fine adjustment knob until a clear image is seen
- if you want a greater magnification., use a higher powered O.F
