- = Mucus plugs then produce airway obstruction
3
Q
Chronic Bronchitis Histo Fx?
A
- Hypertrophy & hyperplasia of mucous gland layer
- Excess mucus in the airways
- Increase in the number of goblet cells
- Increased amount of smooth muscle
- Lymphocytic infiltrate
- May exhibit Squamous metaplasia & dysplasia

- wheezing
5
Q
Chronic Bronchitis complications?

Chronic Bronchitis Lab findings?
A
Increased residual volume and TLC, Decreased FEV1/FVC ratio,
Reid index > 50% (refers to increased mucous gland size)
