Control Surface Overview Flashcards
What are some of the primary differences between D-Show and Profile/SC48? (8)
- D-Show can be expanded with optional sidecars.
- D-Show has more directly accessible switches.
- D-Show has extended functions on channel strips.
- D-Show has independent assignable output encoders and faders. Profile/SC48 are linked.
- More fader banking and paging required on Profile/SC48.
- SC48 has only 16 input faders and is limited to 64 input channels (48 physical inputs).
- SC48 ACS is adaptable.
- D-show has a selected channel fader in the ACS. SC48 has a Flex Channel. Profile has none.
What are the main sections of a Venue control surface? (5)
Input Section/FX Returns. Assignable Channel Section (ACS). Flex Channel (SC48 only). Output Section. Master and Global Section.
What are the four Global Modifier switches on Venue used for?
Shift - Mult-Select
Alt - Default
Ctrl - Fine
User - Assignable
How can a channel fader be quickly reset to unity on the control surface?
By pressing and holding the Default (Alt) switch while simultaneously pressing the channel Select switch.
How do the Safe LEDs in the channel strip controls indicate Solo Safe Mode?
A slowly flashing LED.
How do the Safe LEDs in the channel strip controls indicate Bank Safe Mode?
A rapidly flashing LED.
What two basic control functions are provided by the rotary encoders on Venue systems?
Rotary and switch functions.
What does each basic control function of the rotary encoders do?
Turning an encoder adjusts the associated parameter, while pressing the encode knob toggles the parameter’s state e.g. on/off.
What are some of the functions available in the ACS? (6)
Bus assigns. Selected channel controls and metering. EQ. Dynamics. Insert processing. Direct output control.
What are some ways to target a channel to the ACS? (2)
Press the Select switch on the control surface channel strip.
Click anywhere in the on-screen channel fader strip, except on the fader, mute, solo or safe buttons.
What are the Bus Assigns switches in the ACS used for?
They are the primary routing controls for the currently selected channel, letting you assign it directly to the Main (L-R) bus or to any other mono or stereo group.
What is the Channel Control section of the SC48 ACS used for?
It provides a “center section” panel for displaying and controlling EQ, dynamics, and plug-in processing, as well as Aux sends/Variable Groups. Additionally, it provides a customizable User layout, allowing you to assign up to 8 parameters of your choosing to the Channel Control encoders.
What does the user function in the Channel Control section of the SC48 ACS provide?
Access to a custom set of parameters from different function types.
Name some of the functions that can be controlled through the Output Faders. (5)
Aux 1-8 Aux 9-16 Matrixes Groups VCAs
How are the Output Faders banked?
By using the Output bank switches.
