Control (dc) Equiptment And Local Responses Flashcards
Damage control communications what is done prior to going to sea and what comms system provides dc comms ?
Dc comms tested prior to going to sea
The wire free comms system (WIFCOM)
provides a dc comms system to support all dc scenarios on board.
This system also facilitates ICS wire free comms.
How many dc radios are there and what do they support ?
What has to be tested ?
There are 58 DC radios and they support DC comms all spare batteries are to be fully charged and tested as is the DC net.
Where can you test the general alarm and full main broadcast from ?
SCOOW position
DCHQ
DCHQ2
Manoeuvring room
Where can you test the maintenance line and damage control group from the ?
Control room
OOW/Bridge
DCHQ
DCHQ 2
Manoeuvring room
When is DCHQ closed up ?
What do DCHQ personnel do when they close up in DCHQ?
For planned evolutions and emergencies when does DCHQ close up ?
DCHQ is closed up for some electrical failures and all stations except blind pilotage.
Take out the documentation, comms equipment and incident board
Planned evolutions they will close up before the pipe is made
For emergencies they close up ASAP to take the incident from SCOOW
What is the purpose of the back desk and where is it located ?
The back desk is in the tech office at the rear of the manoeuvring room
It acts as a buffer between the compartments aft and DCHQ so the MRS and his team can concentrate on the operation of the reactor with minimum disruption.
The back desk closes up on the same occasions as DCHQ. But there may be occasions when the back desk can’t be closed up immediately they are ?
Minimum manning
Major steam leak in man room
Flood
Collision
The two dc teams ?
Mechanical repair teams ( FWD & AFT)
Electrical repair teams (TIGER TEAMS)
DC TEAMS EQUIPTMENT EXAMPLES ?
Mechanical repair teams ( bungs, pipe clamps, wooden wedges, spanners)
Electrical repair teams (rubber mats and gloves, voltage testers, fuse keys, spare fuses, insulated tools)
How are dc lockers identified ?
They have a big sign on them that says “DC LOCKERS”
When you are in a high state of readiness what will have been done to all the equipment in the DC LOCKERS ?
It would have been broken out and tested at action stations
What should everyone ensure doesn’t happen to the equiptment in the dc lockers ?
It shouldn’t be taken unless in the event of an emergency when it’s needed.
Not used for everyday maintenance
