Dc comms tested prior to going to sea

The wire free comms system (WIFCOM)
provides a dc comms system to support all dc scenarios on board.

This system also facilitates ICS wire free comms.

What do DCHQ personnel do when they close up in DCHQ?

For planned evolutions and emergencies when does DCHQ close up ?

A

DCHQ is closed up for some electrical failures and all stations except blind pilotage.

Take out the documentation, comms equipment and incident board

Planned evolutions they will close up before the pipe is made

For emergencies they close up ASAP to take the incident from SCOOW

What is the purpose of the back desk and where is it located ?

A

The back desk is in the tech office at the rear of the manoeuvring room

It acts as a buffer between the compartments aft and DCHQ so the MRS and his team can concentrate on the operation of the reactor with minimum disruption.

What are green cross lockers how are they identified and where are they located ?

A

They have a green cross on them they’re on the FWD and AFT escape platforms and they’re first aid equipment for use in escape situations.

What are red tape lockers and where are they located ?

A

They contain all the equipment needed to escape like escape suits for the whole crew plus 10% they’re located on both escape platforms near the escape towers but some could be located in the HPDHR space and the engine room.

A

They are painted red and have a clear plastic window so you can see the contents.

A

They are emergency breathing devices that you can use to escape a smoke filled compartment

How are EEBDs located and how are they identified ?

A

They are in groups of 2-6 in desirable locations and are in orange boxes and they also have a glow in the dark green and white tallies so they can be seen in a dark or smoke filled compartment.

What is the secondary job of chefs when the submarine goes to emergency stations ?

A

They become policemen and go and check the bunk spaces are clear of all personnel.
