1 patch applied once a week for 3 weeks
How is the vaginal ring administered?
1 unit inserted on day 1 of cycle + left in for 3 weeks

Likelihood of menstrual disturbance
Delay in return to fertility
Effect on bone density
How is the implant administered?
Single non-biodegradable rod inserted sub-dermally
When do you caution use of IUDs?
Increased risk of PID
How long can IUD be used for?
3-10 years
What is good about the IUD?
Complete + rapid return of fertility
Describe the Cu-IUD
Non-hormonal
Effective immediately after insertion
Cu toxic to sperm
What is the use of Cu-IUD associated with?
Reduced risk of endometrial cancer + cervical cancer
What can be the side effects of Cu-IUD in first 3-6months?
Spotting
Light bleeding
Heavier or longer periods
