How does oestrogen work as a contraceptive?

A

Acts on
anterior pituitary and hypothalamus
Directly on the ovary
On the endometrium

Oestrogen level reaches above physiological level therefore body thinks you’re pregnant –> LH and FSH decreases so no ovulation

On the endometrium –>stops proliferation so end layer of uterus is thin
