Verify the Operable door is closed in the affected air lock WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.1 A (Ctmnt), what do you do if Containment becomes INOPERABLE?
restore to operable WITHIN 1 hr
How many Refueling Canal Drains must be operable?
2 of the 3 Refueling Canal Drains must be operable
How are the Refueling Canal Drains sized?
Allows sufficient flow back to the recirc sump and minimizes steam bypassing the Ice Condenser
Per TS 3.6.3, Condition B (Ctmnt Isolations), what must be done if 1or more penetration flow paths with 2 containment isolation valves INOPERABLE?
Isolate flow path with blind flange, manual valve or closed/deenergized automatic valve WITHIN 1 hr
When are all access hatches through the barrier closed in Containment?
When RCS > 200°F
Per TS 3.6.2 B (Airlock), what must be done when one or more ctmnt air locks with ctmnt air lock interlock mechanism is inoperable?
Verify an Operable door is closed in the affected air lock WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.2 C (Airlock), what must be done if one or more ctmnt air locks is inoperable for reasons other than Condition A or B?
IMMEDIATELY:
- Initiate action to evaluate overall ctmnt leakage rate per LCO 3.6.1
AND
- Verify a door is closed on the affected air lock WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.4 A (Ctmnt Pressure), what must be done if Containment pressure is not within limits?
Restore ctmnt # to within limits WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.12 A (Ice Condenser Doors), what must be done if One or more condenser inlet doors are inoperable due to being physically restrained from opening?
Restore inlet doors to operable status WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.13 B (Divider Barrier), what must be done if the Divider Barrier Seal is INOPERABLE?
Restore to operable WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.14 A (Ctmnt Recirc Drains), what must be done if One ice condenser floor drain is INOPERABLE
Restore ice condenser floor drain to Operable status WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.14 B (Ctmnt Recirc Drains), what must be done if One required refueling canal drain is INOPERABLE?
Restore required refueling canal drain to Operable status WITHIN 1 hr
Per What does TS 3.6.14 C (Ctmnt Recirc Drains), what must be done if One required CEQ fan room drain is INOPERABLE?
Restore required CEQ fan room drain to Operable status WITHIN 1 hr
Per TS 3.6.14 D (Ctmnt Recirc Drains), what must be done if One flood-up overflow wall flow path is INOPERABLE?
Restore flood-up overflow wall flow path to Operable status WITHIN 1 hr
Why do we use Sodium Tetra-borate in the ice in the ice condenser?
To keep iodine in solution post accident (keeps water at high pH)
How much pressure is needed to open the lower deck doors to the ice condenser?
1 lb per square foot
What does the Ctmnt Penetration and Channel Pressurization System do for us and which one is still in service?
- Zone 3, Electrical Penetrations is still in service
- It maintains positive pressure on the containment electrical penetrations to prevent moisture intrusion.
Which radiation monitors close INSIDE ctmnt isolation valves?
Odd numbered Radiation monitors close 100 series (inside ctmnt iso valves) and CIPS Fan
Which radiation monitors close OUTSIDE ctmnt isolation valves?
Even numbered Radiation monitors close 200 series (Outside ctmnt iso valves) and rest of Ctmnt Vet Supply Fans
What are the RCS leak detection monitors in ctmnt per TS 3.4.15 (RCS Leakage Detection Instrumentation
- 1 containment sump monitor in each sump
- 1 containment atmosphere particulate radioactivity monitor; and
- 1 containment atmosphere gaseous radioactivity monitor
What is the basis for the high and low containment temperature limits?
- HI Temp Limit: equipment concerns
- Low Temp Limit: more mass still remain < 12#
What is the Basis for the containment pressure limitations?
- High Limit: keeps us below design limit of 12#
- Low Limit ensures that the design neg diff pressure is not exceeded and to ensure assumptions made in the blowdown phase of the LBLOCA anaylis remain valid
What are the tech spec pressure bands for containment?
-1.5 psi - +0.3 psi
Where are the requirements for the containment Leak Rate Testigng Program (SR 3.6.11 and 3.6.2.1) discussed?

If the plant is in cold shutdown and preparations are in progress for plant heatup/startup but upper contaiment average temp is > 100F, and a risk assessment has not been performed, can the plant heat up?
NO. TS ACTIONS do not allow for unlimited operation when containment average air temp in the upper CTMT is >100F
